Plano East Undergoes Coaching Change
Plano East enters into a new era as Matt Wester assumes the Head Post at East
Coach Wester has 15 years of experience coaching high school basketball. He just completed 6th year as the Varsity Assistant coach at Plano East. In his coaching career coach Wester has served in several different roles. He has served as a Varsity Assistant coach in Lubbock at Trinity Christian School. He has been a Junior High coach at Rice Middle and Parkhill Junior High. During his five years at Naaman Forest he served as a freshman coach and the JV coach while assisting the Varsity to 4 consecutive playoff appearances, two district championships, and one final four. In the previous six years at Plano East they have won two district titles, made three playoff appearances, and won more than 20 games four times. In High School Coach Wester played on two TAPPS final four teams and one state championship team. He also played college basketball at Wayland Baptist University. His degree came from Texas Tech University in 2004. He and his wife Micahl have been married for Fifteen years. They have five wonderful children Levi (8), Emery (6), Claire (4), Evan (2), and Seth (21). The Westers live in Dallas.
Please Welcome Coach Alexann Yancey
Alexann graduated from Plano West High School. She made one Regional Tournament appearance while there. Alexann also earned District MVP her senior year following offensive player of the year her junior year. Coach Yancey continued her basketball career at The University of Oklahoma and later transferred to Texas Christian University where she graduated. After graduation, Coach Yancey coached at Southlake Carroll and most recently Spring Hill High School in Longview, Texas. While at Spring Hill she more than doubled their win record as the head coach.
